MASTERCLASSES

As part of our commitment with producers, directors, and film fans, we are starting a series of free film courses, the first two are:

Class 1: “Cinematic views of the 21st century”

We will discuss important, transcending and classic film authors.  Why are they significant?  Who decided so?  Has history given them the importance?  If not, who?  How?  Is their cinema still important now?

Instructor: Erick Estrada, film critic, jury member in multiple Mexican festivals, and producer of the podcast “Cine Garage”.

There will be a total of 8 masterclasses every 2 weeks starting Wednesday July 14th.

Class 2: “ART WITHIN THE SEVENTH ART”

We will discuss myths about art in audio-visual forms.  Is art making films about artists?  Is art to mirror artworks into the frame?  Is using clichés during the artistic creation a contradiction?  Set design, props, makeup, wardrobe, color pallets.

Instructor: Jazmin Ruano, set designer, film director and producer/

Classes will be once a month, and they begin on Thursday July 22th

Como parte de nuestro compromiso con productores, realizadores y demás amantes del cine, daremos inicio a 2 cursos de cine sin costo.

MASTERCLASS 1  “MIRADAS CINEMATOGRÁFICAS DEL SIGLO XX”

Autores importantes, autores trascendentes. Autores clásicos. ¿Por qué lo son? ¿Quién lo decidió? ¿Ha sido la historia quien les ha dado esa importancia? Si no ella, ¿quién? ¿cómo? ¿Importa su cine en la actualidad?

Maestro: Erick Estrada, crítico de cine, jurado de múltiples festivales mexicanos y productor del podcast  “Cine Garage”.
Inicia: 14 de Julio, 7 clases de manera quincenal cada Miércoles.

MASTERCLASS 2  ¨ARTE DENTRO DEL SEPTIMO ARTE¨

Mitos sobre qué es el arte en el audio visual: ¿Es el arte hacer películas sobre artistas?, ¿Es el arte asemejar obras dentro de los fotogramas? ¿Usar el cliché en la creación artística es una contradicción? Escenografía, Utilería, Maquillaje, Vestuario, Paleta de color.

Maestra: Jazmín Ruano, escenografa, directora y productora de cine.
Inicia: 22 de Julio, 4 clases de manera mensual cada Jueves.

SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN!

The 4th edition of the Ibero-American Film Festival Miami is open.  Our festival will take place from November 3to 7 of this year.  

To be considered, films need to comply with at least one of the following guidelines:

  • The director or producer is from an Ibero-American country.
  • The film is produced in an Ibero-American country.
  • The cast is from an Ibero-American country.

NOTE: All films need to have English subtitles.
Submissions are done through Film Freeway, and they close in august 30th.

SUMISIÓN PARA CONCURSO ABIERTA!
Hemos abierto la inscripción de películas para participar en la 4ta edición del Iberoamericana Film Festival Miami que se llevará a cabo del 4 al 7 de noviembre del presente año.

Para ser considerado, las cintas deberán de cumplir al menos una de las siguientes normativas:

  • La guionista, director(a) o productor(a) es Iberoamericano(a).
  • El film está producido en Iberoamérica
  •  El elenco es Iberoamericano

Nota: Todas las cintas deben tener subtítulos en inglés.

We hare happy to announce that we are joining efforts with NALIP (The National Association of Latino Independent Producers) to reinforce our objectives and help our community.

The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (“NALIP”) biggest annual event is coming to you virtually, July 19-21st. Last year’s NALIP Media Summit welcomed over 1,300 attendees worldwide and over 100 speakers from across the media and entertainment industry landscape.

Programmer

We have the honor to present to you Diego Lerer as our Lead programmer.  Diego is a journalist, film critic, Latin American programing delegate for the “Directors’ Fortnight” in Cannes, as well as programmer for festivals in Venice, Rome, Macao, Beijing, Pingyao, among many others.  He has also served as jury in Berlin, Toronto, Venice and San Sebastián festivals.

Diego’s participation, in conjunction with our honorary director, Sergio Cabrera, assures the level of curation that our festival will have this year.

IAFFM tiene el honor de presentar al periodista y crítico de cine Diego Lerer como nuestro Lead programmer. Lerer es delegado de programación de América Latina para la Quincena de Realizadores de Cannes, y ha cumplido la misma función en festivales como Venecia, Roma, Macao, Beijing, Pingyao, entre otros. También a fungido de jurado en festivales como Berlín, Toronto, Venecia y San Sebastián.

Su involucramiento, junto con el de nuestro director honorario Sergio Cabrera, nos asegura un curaduría de nivel significativo para la edición de este año.
