As part of the Miami International Film Festival, IAFFM, a masterclass on the Meisner acting technique will be held from November 3 to 7, for actors and directors. This intensive training will be taught by Maria Gowland and Stephen Bayly, both of whom have an extensive experience in film and teaching. Among the renowned performers who have mastered this technique are Michelle Pfeiffer, David Mamet, Sydney Pollack, Naomi Watts, Steve McQueen, and Jeff Goldblum, to name just a few.
This master class will focus on the basic principles of Sanford Meisner’s acting techniques, using the imagination, and working with personal emotions in the precise way required by a specific character, in a specific scene. Gowland and Bayly will provide directors with concrete tools to obtain rich and truthful performances from their cast. No distinction will be made between actors and directors, since acting is doing, and this workshop is about learning by doing.
Stephen Bayly is an American producer and filmmaker who has also been director of the United Kingdom’s National Film & Television School. Among the films he has produced are Richard III and Mrs. Dalloway.
Maria Gowland is an Argentinian filmmaker and cinematographer who has chaired the Direction Lecture at Cuba’s International School of Film and TV. Some of the films in which she has collaborated are The Holy Girl by Lucrecia Martel, The Road to San Diego by Carlos Sorin, and The Innocents by Mauricio Brunetti.
El trabajo con el actor – Masterclass de la Técnica Meisner
Como parte del Ibero-American Film Festival de Miami, IAFFM, se llevará a cabo una clase magistral sobre la técnica de actuación Meisner del 3 al 7 de noviembre, para actores y directores. Esta formación intensiva será impartida por Maria Gowland y Stephen Bayly, ambos con una amplia experiencia en cine y en enseñanza. Entre los artistas de renombre que han dominado esta técnica se encuentran Michelle Pfeiffer, David Mamet, Sydney Pollack, Noami Watts, Steve McQueen y Jeff Goldblum, por nombrar sólo algunos.
Esta clase magistral se centrará en los principios básicos de las técnicas de actuación de Sanford Meisner, los cuales utilizan la imaginación y el trabajo con las emociones personales de la forma precisa que requiere un personaje específico, en una escena concreta. Gowland y Bayly proporcionarán a los directores herramientas concretas para obtener interpretaciones ricas y veraces de su elenco. No se hará distinción entre actores y directores, ya que actuar es hacer y este taller se trata de aprender haciendo.
